Artist Statement
This exhibition is a combination of works done over the years reflecting environmental issues around the Coorong Lower Lakes (Lake Albert and Lake Alexandrina) and the Murray River.
The beauty and the degradation experienced in my time here by both natural and human intervention, with the life blood of the area water being exhausted, even now the area looks like it is fine, but is still under constant threat and so to are all its inhabitants, along with the constant water issues, there is also new causes of concern ever present, seals are now invading the area and destroying not only local fishing industries but the wildlife with great gusto. The true locals the Pelican are being viciously attacked along with many other species and left either dead or mortally wounded on the banks and in the water.
It is my hope that through my explorations of these issues visually that it will continue to bring new discourse to these issues and promote more positive outcomes for the future of these areas and there inhabitants.
