n our increasingly urbanised world, many of us are estranged from nature. We feel that nature only exists out there somewhere beyond the city limits. We overlook the urban nature that is all around us — street trees responding to the cycle of seasons, the busy lives of birds in a neighbourhood park, the butterflies that visit our garden.
Sandra Taylor will introduce nature journaling, a way of momentarily leaving the human world to be in nature by recording your perception of and personal response to the plants and animals that share your neighbourhood. Nature journaling can be done anywhere you happen to be when you are inspired to record an encounter with nature, but it can begin with the view from your kitchen window.
Philip Roetman will demonstrate some of the new online tools you can use to help you record and identify the wildlife you see and hear.
