A FREE practical, hands-on wicking bed workshop in the Common Ground Community Garden.
Wicking beds are raised gardens with a water reservoir at the base, like a giant self-watering pot. The soil remains moist at a fraction of the water usage and plants draw (or wick) up the water as needed. Facilitated by Steven Hoepfner, this hands-on workshop will cover wicking design principles, materials needed, construction methods and suitable plants whilst converting the raised beds at Common Ground’s Community Garden into wicking beds.
This free workshop is supported by the Adelaide Sustainability Centre, Adelaide City Council's 'Go Green in the City', Common Ground and Bunnings Warehouse.
