Creativity Unleashed - Workshop 2 Mural and Painting Special Effects

Mark making techniques are the basis for many faux and special paint effects. Following on from the earlier workshop we will run through specific applications and how to create a number of effects. Then play with creating your own textured effect to mimic a material.

You will learn about

  • special paint effects for creating textured walls and backgrounds including ragging and wash effects
  • faux wood graining
  • faux stone
  • experimentation with textures to create your own painted effect

Idea for

  • Home decorators interested in using the methods for decorating around their home or giving a daggy piece of furniture a facelift
  • artists who would like to workshop with other creative types and experiment with techniques to create painted illusions.

What to Bring

  • Wear old clothes or bring an apron or old shirt to cover your good cloths
  • Optional… bring a picture of a material or surface (for example checker plate steel) that we could work out how this could be mimic as a painted effect
  • Disposable or reusable gloves to protect your skin from paint

What we Provide

  • Paint, brushes, palettes,  paper, board for use during the workshop
  • An assortment of mark making tools
  • Disposable gloves
