Mark making techniques are the basis for many faux and special paint effects. Following on from the earlier workshop we will run through specific applications and how to create a number of effects. Then play with creating your own textured effect to mimic a material.
You will learn about
- special paint effects for creating textured walls and backgrounds including ragging and wash effects
- faux wood graining
- faux stone
- experimentation with textures to create your own painted effect
Idea for
- Home decorators interested in using the methods for decorating around their home or giving a daggy piece of furniture a facelift
- artists who would like to workshop with other creative types and experiment with techniques to create painted illusions.
What to Bring
- Wear old clothes or bring an apron or old shirt to cover your good cloths
- Optional… bring a picture of a material or surface (for example checker plate steel) that we could work out how this could be mimic as a painted effect
- Disposable or reusable gloves to protect your skin from paint

- Paint, brushes, palettes, paper, board for use during the workshop
- An assortment of mark making tools
- Disposable gloves
